Holy Cell of the Holy Archangels of Chilandari Monastery, 16th century
Sanctuary cell of the Holy Archangels of Sabvia it is an old establishment the which we do not know when it was built, but it is known that during the Turkish rule in the 16th century.
The cells in Karyes during the Turkish occupation, which were independent because they existed before the Holy Monasteries and paid taxes to the Turks, went bankrupt and were bought by the Holy Monasteries.
This cell was purchased by the Serbian Holy Monastery of Hilandari.
We believe that by the mercy of our great God and our Most Holy Mother, of the Holy Archangels in whom our temple is honored, of our Holy Fathers Savva of Serbia, and of his Holy Father, Simeon of Chilandarinus, and of Saint Savva of the Sanctified who is our protectors, of our Holy elders, and of our holy Monastery, which always stands by us in our needs, we will be able to finish the difficult task we have shouldered to rest our fathers who bequeathed us.
Our Spiritual Struggle
We strive for this blessed and sanctified Cell to leave a legacy to the next generations who will deserve to come to the orchard of the Virgin Mary, so that they may live invited as we were by our Lord Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary his mother who has us as her children.
The last elder of the cell has recently fallen asleep. Elder Savvas fell asleep on 14/01/2020, the day our Holy Monastery celebrated Saint Savvas of Serbia. We feel that Saint Savvas loved him, because the old man was strict in his solitary life, in his spiritual duties and ascetic like Saint Savvas, and he took him to his feast.
